Green Schools’ Programme
In 2005 we were awarded our first Green Flag in recognition of our work on ‘Reduce, Re-use, Recycle’. Since then we have had a very active Green School Committee working hard to keep us aware of environmental issues. We have since been awarded 4 more green flags and we hope to achieve our next flag this year. Well done to all who work so hard on achieving these flags for our school, and we look forward to progressing to the next level this year.
We are very lucky to be so close to one of Dublin’s foremost GAA clubs, St John’s GAA Ballinteer. Every week our St John’s coach, Carol Nolan gives us expert training in the areas of Gaelic football and hurling. Each class get a 6 week block of training per year.
We are very lucky to have such great staff who train our boys in athletics. Our main event each year is the Cumann na mBunscoil Athletics Finals which take place in Santry every summer term. This year we were so proud of our boys, one of whom brought home a silver medal for the sprints.
We have a long tradition of offering extra languages in our school. Our boys from Junior Infants up to Fourth class learn Chinese, while 5th and 6th classes learn Spanish. These classes are taught by native speakers, and are fun, interactive lessons for the boys.
